I’m a writer, sometimes journalist, and professional photographer who focuses on street portraits and landscapes that capture moments of beauty and discomfiture in the course of ordinary day to day life. I have had three solo photography shows as well as exhibited in Monmouth Museum’s juried exhibition. My photos have also been featured at Sea Hear Now in Asbury Park and several local NJ gallery shows. I self published a photo book called Spaces and had a solo show to support it. I am most well known for my Humans of Asbury Park photo project.

I have done reporting for The Stall at Brookdale, the UMC as well as had my work been published in local newspapers. I have an oral history piece in the anthology New Jersey Fan Club published by Rutgers Press. I am currently working on a poetry collection that focuses on generational trauma and identity.

During my spare time when I am not photographing weddings to pay the bills, I enjoy writing poetry and personal essays and performing at open mics. I live in Tinton Falls, NJ with my family.

Hi, I’m Kamelia DeSoucey,
